Tips and Suggestions

  • *** Check your passport expiration date ***

  • Your passport should be valid at least six months beyond your departure date.

  • Ensure there are enough pages for entry and exit stamps.  

  • Check with your health insurance regarding overseas coverage. 

  • Your homeowner's insurance may provide travel coverage.

  • Check any overseas coverage offered by your credit cards.

  • Ensure you have two different branded credit cards i.e. Mastercard and Visa. American Express and Discover are not widely accepted.

  • Know the PIN for your credit cards to withdraw money from an ATM

  • Check cost of using your credit card overseas. If necessary consider applying for a credit card with no international transaction fees. Capital One is an option

  • Check cost of using your telephone while overseas.

  • Obtain COVID-19 vaccine boosters at least two weeks prior to departure, if available. 

  • Obtain travel insurance - additional information will be provided

  • Pack light.  Limit yourself to one piece of luggage per person and one small day pack or shoulder bag. 

  • Traveling in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be careful to maintain high health and safety standards.  You may be required to wear a mask covering your nose and mouth, submit to temperature checks, or quarantine if showing signs of COVID-19, or advised to do so by a medical professional. 

  • Be aware of your surroundings. Turks are welcoming. As everywhere tourists seem to attract the less scrupulous in society. Do not go off with anyone you have not been introduced to. Do not exhibit large quantities of money. Do not wear flashy jewelry. 

  • Be aware of your physical surroundings. Pavements, walkways, entrance ways are often uneven. Tripping opportunities abound - take it from me.
